Parents have a big influence on their kids choices. Many boys turned men look back and thank their parents, often their mothers that they pushed them to the point of making the prestige rank of Eagle Scout. The day your son becomes an Eagle Scout is just one of the celebrations of his progress you will enjoy.
This video above is fun and interesting. It has a convincing message. It's short, take a look. Think of it parents, what can you encourage your boy to join that would have more lifetime benefits than joining Boy Scouts of America?
Of equal importance is your role being an aware parent. Know what merit badges they need to advance. Keep track of their progress. Even volunteer to be a merit badge counselor if you have an area of skill that fits. See your scout leaders to discuss their needs. Being a merit badge counselor is a good thing to do.
And don't pass up, Cub Scouts. Below is a portion of an article on Cub Scouting. The full article is available by clicking here. Cub scouts is a blast.
Young boys these days are encouraged to try all kinds of extracurricular activities from the moment they begin school. There are community sports teams for baseball, soccer, football, and basketball. Kids can go to swimming classes, piano lessons, art classes, tennis lessons, and martial arts classes. There are really so many choices available for elementary-aged boys. But one of the best choices is one that I have not yet mentioned-the Cub Scouts.
Why is joining the Cub Scouts such a great idea for young boys? First and
foremost, it is fun for boys. What good is an extracurricular activity if it
isn't fun? If your child is not enjoying himself, he will not want to stick with
the activity, which will result in wasted time and money.
Cub Scouts involves such a variety of activities, so it is pretty certain that your son will not get bored. Also, Cub Scouts is a family endeavor; parents are encouraged and expected to take part in the meetings, projects, and field trips. Wouldn't your child love to have an opportunity to spend more time doing exciting activities with his parents?
